Shady Ferns

 Shady Ferns

Something a bit different.
I kept a border on this one, but wanted the painting to be looser.

It started as a scrap that I had tested colors on. The wash turned out so nice, I felt it deserved a little more attention.

Mushroom

 Shaggy Ink Cap Mushroom

Fiddling around with some loose washes.

Serenity

Bengal Kitty.

Watercolor and Ink.
Tinting the background worked nicely. Trying to maximize color intensity.

Metallic Dragon

 Metallic Dragon

Using metallic watercolors on this one. Photograph doesn't really show the metallic sheen.

Needs more contrast between the metallic and flat colors.

Narwhal

 Narwhal of Justice.

Trying out different color combinations. Definitely will be trying others.

Simplified the border. Not sure what I think about it.

Tuxedo Cat

 Tuxedo Cat and Mouse

I used ink for the black this time. The color is a little flat, but I wanted him to be deep black.

I may try a watercolor mix next time for a deeper color.

That pink border pattern took forever.

Snails

 More doodling.

Happy Little Snails.

Ferns 1

 Watercolor Doodle Bookmark

Just because.

There are a bajillion ferns in my front yard right now. Waist high and looking like a jungle.

Pthalo blue, cadmium yellow, and green apatite over sienna ink.

Strathmore multi-media paper - it's a little thin for this kind of wash.

Grassy Green Dragon

 Another Artist Trading Card.

Used more floral patterns in the border this time.

I think I may try inking the patterns in the borders next instead of just using white paint.

Pastel Dragon

Fierce pink and purple dragon Art Card.

Sold several cards on tinygallery.io I think I need to increase prices if I'm going to keep up.

I may try the bidding process again next month. They are making changes so buyers pay up front instead of waiting for a "purchase window."

Pupper Portrait

 Finished watercolor pet portrait.

This one is a fund raiser for Bandaged Paws, a pet shelter in Alberta Canada. Fingers crossed it makes it through the mail!

Watercolor and ink on Arches 'rough' watercolor paper.

It's not signed yet. Have to decide exactly where I will sign and then give it a coat of cold wax.

Fire Dragon

Decided to use all the warm colors for this one.

Burnt Sienna, Aussie Red Gold, Vermilion, Cobalt Green, Metallic Gold, and Titanium White watercolor and ink.

I almost thought the green was going to be too dark, but the white details pulled it together. I put some extra shading on the yellow wing because the white just wasn't showing up.

This is also an ACEO. 2.5 x 3.5 inches on Strathmore Multi-Media paper. I put on a protective layer of cold wax.

Have not written anything on the back yet as I plan to offer it for sale on TinyGallery.io

I have been sending my opinions directly to the president via e-mail this past week. I doubt the man even knows how to read. I will make more art cards to distribute on my trip to Pennsylvania at the end of July. I feel like the vulnerable communities along the way need as much support as they can get. Even if it is just a tiny card.

ATC

Newest Art Card.
Posted this one on tinygallery.io
It sold pretty quickly, so yay me.

I have two other cards listed there which have not sold yet. I listed them as blind auction items. (I have changed both listings to a flat purchase price.)

One received no bids. The other received two bids, but neither of the buyers followed through on the purchase. Disappointing, but interesting information.

I have not purchased anything through tinygallery. I wonder if the actual purchase process through Stripe is difficult or something.

Anyone else ever used this platform?

Liberty

Not sure how well this one works.

Calico cats just seem difficult to paint. Maybe not enough black?

My photography is not the best either. What? Stop whining so much maybe?

They do look like they're boxing though, right?

Calico

Trying another calico cat. I simplified the shell so it would not compete as much with the patterns on the cat.

I think it came out OK.

"Abolish I.C.E. Now"

He needs to be angrier for this sentiment.

Green snail cat

This calico coloring is not working for me. I think I will make him black with some white markings instead.

The green shell looks good though. Unsure about the coloring on the acanthus leaves.

I may like it better once the cat is black.

Hmm. I think black is better.
Makes the shell less confusing.
He does look like a grumpy old cat though. Tough old snail Tom.

Finished.

Watercolor and ink.

PinkSnailCat

 Pink Snail Cat.

The Great Pink Snail Cat says, "You are on the Gender Spectrum. Be proud of who you are."

Watercolor, metallic watercolor, and ink on Strathmore Multi Media paper.

People can choose who they want to be. Why is our government so determined to tell us who we are?

No ICE Narwhal

 Work in Progress.

Swimming with the fishies.

Can't believe ICE is still terrorizing people in Minnesota. And no, they are not just detaining illegal immigrants and criminals. No arrests for any of the murders committed either.

Our government is failing us miserably.

I should have this card finished for the ATC trade at the Painted Wraith the last Saturday of this month.

Looking forward to seeing what everyone else has been working on.

Tuxedo Snail Cat

 Another Snail Cat.

Watercolor and ink. I am enjoying the purple snail shell.

Abolish ICE Now.

They are a life-threatening hazard to every one of us.

All these old white men politicians have got to go.

Finished a new Snail Cat ATC to trade at the Painted Wraith Curiosity Shop.

I will also bring some dragons and octopuses.

Narwhal

Finished painting my latest narwhal. Not sure what I'm going to write in the back - there are so many outrageous ICE actions incited by this fascist regime it's hard to choose.

Ink and Watercolor. I used Daniel Smith granulating watercolor - Blue Apatite and some burnt sienna on the narwhal. His 'horn' is Beam Paints metallic gold.

Narwhal of Resistance

Painting my Narwhal. Needs white-work and some details.

Resist Fascism.
